LASER OPERATOR
Job Summary
The laser machine operator is responsible for the daily set-up and operation of laser cutting machines. Daily operation includes housekeeping, general maintenance, material staging, and assisting co-workers.
Duties and Responsibilities

Perform daily machine startup and shut down, load and unload the machine, ensure each work area is fully stocked for daily operation
Perform programming for laser cutting operations, ensuring optimal settings for material types and thickness while maintaining accurate inventory
Operate laser cutting machines to produce high-quality components
Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform basic maintenance as needed
Ensure production schedule meets or exceeds deadlines established by scheduling department
Conduct quality inspections of finished products using various measuring tools to ensure adherence to blueprints and customer specifications, reporting quality issues timely
Adhere to ISO procedures
Communicate with other departments as necessary
Work effectively in a team environment
Accurately complete paperwork and maintain records of daily production
Perform other duties as assigned

Authority
Employees are required to follow procedures, work instructions and operational processes. The potential consequences for non-compliance may result in an increased rejection rate at the Customer, increased internal scrap rate, delayed or late shipments, personal injury, and a negative impact on the environment.
All employees have the authority to stop production and contain nonconforming products. Significant quantities of nonconformances must be reported immediately to management.
This position requires no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training/certification preferred
Previous experience operating laser cutting tables
Basic computer skills
Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings
Experience using hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment
Familiarity with metal types and thicknesses
Excellent hand-eye coordination
Consistent quality technique, dependable performance, and attention to detail
Self-motivated individual that can perform with minimal supervision.
Maintains a safe and clean work area
Working Conditions / Environment
This job operates in a manufacturing environment.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to loud noise, fumes and airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration; may work with or around chemicals that create a hazardous exposure which is defined on the accessible Safety Data Sheets; employee is exposed to moderate temperature changes over an eight-hour shift.

Ability to stand on ladders, kneel, bend down, and stretch; physically able to wear protective equipment on a regular basis as part of the sanding, prepping and painting process including respirator fit testing.
