ESTIMATOR
Job Summary
The estimator collects and analyzes data in order to estimate the time, money, materials, labor and processes required to manufacture an assigned project.
Duties and Responsibilities

Identify and quantify cost factors, such as production time, materials, labor and process step expenses
Communicate with other departments and suppliers to gather information on materials needed, labor required, and other factors
Help to source new vendors as quotes for new products come in
Fill in our quoting vehicle, the “Estimator” for review
Attach all documents to the opportunity quote or project in Epicor
Read blueprints and technical documents to prepare estimates
Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineers, customers, and contractors on estimates
Evaluate a product’s cost-effectiveness or profitability
Recommend ways to make a product more cost effective or profitable
Work with Sales teams to prepare estimate and bids for customers
Updates cost estimate when changes occur within the initial product, including but not limited to supplier cost increases, labor increases, changes in production process, etc.

Authority
Employees are required to follow procedures, work instructions and operational processes. The potential consequences for non-compliance may result in an increased rejection rate at the Customer, increased internal scrap rate, delayed or late shipments, personal injury, and a negative impact on the environment.
All employees have the authority to stop production and contain nonconforming product. Significant quantities of nonconformances must be reported immediately to management.
This position requires no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications and Experience
Associate’s Degree in Engineering preferred but not required
Purchasing/quoting/planning/ engineering experience preferred
Three or more years of manufacturing/tool shop experience preferred but not required
Mechanical aptitude required; able to read prints
Excellent computer skills (MS Office, ERP experience preferred)
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, to coworkers, customers, and suppliers
Ability to manage several projects at one time
Able to work independently on a project through its completion with minimum supervision
Knowledge of metal fabrication processes, machining and tooling background and previous manufacturing background/environment.
Impeccable attention to detail and ability to work within short time lines with speed and accuracy
Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and problem solve effectively
Strong analytical mindset
Strong written and oral communication
Working Conditions / Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to loud noise, fumes and airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration; may work with or around chemicals that create a hazardous exposure which is defined on the accessible Safety Data Sheets; employee is exposed to moderate temperature changes over an eight-hour shift.
