CNC OPERATOR
Job Summary
The CNC Operator produces machined parts by setting up and operating a CNC machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.
Duties and Responsibilities
This description represents the most significant job duties but does not exclude other work duties assigned or required but not mentioned.
Plan machining operations by reviewing work orders, blue prints, engineering plans and drawings.
Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving parts programs
Set up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools,, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads
Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position
Maintain specifications by observing, drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning and facing operations, take measurements, detect malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, adjusting and reprogramming controls, sharpening and replacing work tools and quality assurance.
Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs.
Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers and calipers, and fixtures and gauges to check work and perform detailed inspection of parts produced.
ATTENDANCE: Good attendance includes reporting to work on time, sticking to work schedules, being prepared to start work on time, remaining on the job during the workday to complete assigned duties and limited use of unscheduled leave.

Job Requirements
Employees are required to follow procedures, work instructions and operational processes. All employees have the responsibility to contain and immediately notify management of any nonconforming product.
This position requires no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications and Experience
Experience in working in a machine shop environment.
2+ years’ experience in machine shop
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, to coworkers
Ability to manage several projects at one time
Able to work independently on a project through its completion with minimum supervision
Knowledge of metal fabrication processes, machining and tooling background and previous manufacturing background/environment.
Impeccable attention to detail and ability to work within short time lines with speed and accuracy
Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and problem solve effectively
Strong analytical mindset
Working Conditions / Environment
This job operates in a manufacturing environment.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to loud noise, fumes and airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration; may work with or around chemicals that create a hazardous exposure which is defined on the accessible Safety Data Sheets; employee is exposed to moderate temperature changes over an eight-hour shift.
