ALUMINUM WELDER
Job Summary
The Aluminum Welder fabricates and assembles metal structures and produces metal products according to customer and employer specifications.
Duties and Responsibilities

Set up welding machines and equipment (both MIG and TIG)
Weld, cut, and grind aluminum of different widths
Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc or other welding equipment
Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications or drawings
Follows weld and assembly requirements of drawings for assigned product by using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
Ignites torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc
Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs
Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers and calipers, and fixtures and gauges to check work and perform detailed inspection of parts produced.
ATTENDANCE: Good attendance includes reporting to work on time, sticking to work schedules, being prepared to start work on time, remaining on the job during the workday to complete assigned duties and limited use of unscheduled leave.

Job Requirements
Employees are required to follow procedures, work instructions and operational processes. The potential consequences for non-compliance may result in an increased rejection rate at the Customer, increased internal scrap rate, delayed or late shipments, personal injury, and a negative impact on the environment.
All employees have the responsibility to contain and immediately notify management of any nonconforming product.
This position requires no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications and Experience
1+ years of TIG and MIG welding experience or equivalent training
MIG and TIG Certification AWS D1.2 (or able to achieve within 60 days of employment)
Successful completion of the CIT weld test.
Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures
Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers, etc.)
Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face shield, gloves, PPE, etc.)
Deftness and attention to detail

Working Conditions / Environment
This job operates in a manufacturing environment.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to loud noise, fumes and airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration; may work with or around chemicals that create a hazardous exposure which is defined on the accessible Safety Data Sheets; employee is exposed to moderate temperature changes over an eight-hour shift.
